The Metropolitan Miniature Horse Club Inc. was founded in 2002 by a bunch of Miniature Horse enthusiasts who wanted to see the Miniature Horse thrive in New Zealand. They soon secured a name for being one of the most forward thinking and progressive Miniature Horse clubs in New Zealand today.

One thing that makes Metropolitan Miniature Horse club unique is that this club is not bound by regional boundaries which allows us to have full voting members nationwide. We are one of the few clubs that gives full members voting rights to all aspects of the running of the club.

Members are encouraged to participate in all facets of the clubs day to day running as well as the activities, shows and outings that Metropolitan provides. Metro is known for thinking outside the box and for actively promoting the Miniature Horse in New Zealand.

In 2004, the club organised and ran New Zealands first (and to date the ONLY) Miniature Horse Expo at the North Shore Events Centre. The event was a resounding success with over 2000 members of the public attending to watch sale and stallion parades, displays of jumping/harness/dressage drill teams/halter/obstacle as well as enjoying the live music and electric atmosphere.
